It’s hard to believe that no one was injured in this accident: Monday night a lorry crashed on a construction site on the A9, parts thrown around have hit as many as seven cars! The road section was closed for hours.
The construction site of the Pyhrnautobahn near Deutschfeistritz in Styria is considered a tricky bottleneck this summer – Monday night there was even a blockage for hours due to an accident. A Hungarian truck driver (50) looked out over the beginning of the large site, the right front of his trailer hit several construction jaws. These were thrown into the headland to the S35 and hit five cars there!
The truck driver eventually lost control of his vehicle due to the extensive damage to his vehicle, and the truck crashed into a concrete wall on the left. Some concrete elements cracked and were thrown into the area of oncoming traffic – a further two cars were badly damaged.
All drivers were unharmed
According to the police, a total of two road signs, 15 construction site basins, 15 construction site anchors and 36 meters of concrete barrier were damaged in the incident. All involved were unharmed. The volunteer fire brigades in Friesach/Wörth, Deutschfeistritz and Frohnleiten were deployed with a total of 37 people and eight vehicles.
