Almost 1.5 per mille and much too fast – after a horror accident with five patients, some of them seriously injured, a debate broke out in Unterpullendorf about the roundabout as a danger zone. Concerned residents report dangerous situations due to the recklessness of many motorists.
The terrible accident last weekend in Unterpullendorf brought many residents to a standstill. As reported, a driver (29) drove over a road divider around 5:30 p.m., mowed down a tree in the middle of the roundabout and then crashed into a traffic sign before crashing his car into an oncoming vehicle. The man behind the wheel (66) from Strebersdorf, a district of Lutzmannsburg, was trapped in the wreck – hospital!
According to the official accusations, the person who caused the accident drove too fast from Vienna with three friends in the car after a wedding party with an alcohol content of almost 1.5 per mille. The 29-year-old escaped with minor injuries. His passengers had it even worse.
Reckless speed demons
“Many motorists drive far too fast towards our roundabout,” concerned residents report. It is said that delicate situations arise again and again, as a glance out the window reveals. “Although the police are constantly on site and watching traffic, a number of drivers still do not adhere to the prescribed speed outside the checks. Some even drive so stupidly that they barely take their foot off the accelerator,” warns a neighbor.
However, the number of accidents is limited. According to authorities, the last time an accident occurred at the roundabout in Unterpullendorf was in mid-July 2023.
