Another forestry accident took place in Styria: On Tuesday afternoon, a 30-year-old was struck by a tree in Weißenbach an der Enns (Liezen district) during mowing work on steep terrain. He had to be taken to hospital by rescue helicopter with serious injuries.
It was shortly after 5pm on Tuesday afternoon when a 30-year-old and his brother were engaged in criminal work in a forest near Weißenbach an der Enns. He used a chainsaw to cut down a tree on steep terrain. This tree probably caused another, wedged tree to roll.
A helicopter took him to the hospital
The tree fell directly on the young man, who was seriously injured. 40 emergency services and four vehicles from the Weißenbach an der Enns and St. Gallen fire brigades arrived together with three mountain rescuers to rescue the injured man from the steep terrain. The Christophorus 15 rescue helicopter then took him to the LKH Amstetten.
