As reported, there are 23 deaths and twelve missing sheep due to a wolf in Rauris. The animal can be hunted from midnight – within a ten kilometer radius of the cracks.
Herd protection is not possible in the affected area in Pinzgau. For Deputy Governor Marlene Svazek (FPÖ), the regulation is “the only effective immediate measure to protect farm animals and reduce the burden on farmers.”
Various wild areas have been demarcated in the so-called harmful wolf measures scheme. In these areas, wolves can be removed more quickly after cracks tomorrow midnight.
There is always a radius of ten kilometers around the cracks. The hunting period is limited to four weeks and is extended after each new crack.
