Israeli forces say they have carried out an airstrike on an Islamist Hamas position in a Gaza Strip school run by the United Nations Palestine Relief Agency (UNRWA). Several fighters were killed.
The position in the school in Nuseirat served as a base for units of the terrorist organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which were also involved in the massacre in Israel on October 7 last year. According to the Islamist Hamas, 27 people were killed.
Citizens in constant danger
Israel repeatedly accuses Hamas of operating from civilian facilities in the Gaza war, endangering civilians or even deliberately using them as a protective shield. Hamas denies this.
The aid agency UNRWA made headlines in January after Israel claimed that 12 of its employees were involved in the October 7 massacre and that the organization as a whole had been infiltrated by Hamas.
There is hunger and deprivation in the Gaza Strip
The situation in the Gaza Strip remains tense and the supply situation is also causing headaches. Due to food shortages, nine out of ten children suffer from life-threatening malnutrition.
“In the Gaza Strip, months of hostilities and restrictions on humanitarian aid have caused food and healthcare systems to collapse, with catastrophic consequences for children and their families,” UNICEF said.
