The cyber detectives of the Salzburg police are busy with the following cases of internet fraud: a 75-year-old lost 100,000 euros to false love, an 81-year-old put 40,000 euros into dubious crypto platforms.
And it happened again: a fraudster took the role of an Italian project manager for a woman from Salzburg and feigned true love. They met in January and communicated through different channels. And the fraudster managed to get the woman to regularly send him money through a payment service provider – a total of no less than 100,000 euros. Only now did she go to the police.
And the police also reported crypto fraud: a man from Flachgau (81) lost 40,000 euros on various trading platforms.
