NASA orders new study on UFOs

Date:

NASA has commissioned a new study on unidentified flying objects (UFOs). The study, led by astrophysicist David Spergel, aims to identify existing data from the fall, find out how best to collect data in the future and how, based on this data, unidentified flying objects can be better understood scientifically in the future. , the authority announced on Thursday.

“Given the lack of observations, our first task is to simply collect the most robust dataset we can collect,” Spergel said. The researchers therefore wanted to map out what data is available – from citizens, the government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and companies.

The investigation is expected to last approximately nine months and all results will be made public. NASA said there was no evidence that unidentified flying objects were of extraterrestrial origin.

No explanation for numerous celestial phenomena
The investigation had been agreed with the US government, but was not part of their own investigation. Last year, the United States Department of Defense released a long-awaited report from the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, which found that there are no explanations for about 140 celestial phenomena from the past two decades, at least until now.

At the same time, these phenomena were determined to pose a security risk to air travel and potentially a national security risk to the United States. Therefore, a plan must now be drawn up on how they can be better explored and understood. In May, there was the first hearing in the US House of Representatives on the subject in more than 50 years.
