The PV boom is now being followed by the first slump in the construction of new solar energy systems: it is easy to explain why there is currently less investment: low energy prices for solar energy also reduce revenues when business and private customers supply the public network. “It doesn’t have to be that way,” says Lower Austrian Cornelia Daniel of the Dachgold company, by which he means “secret” financing.
“In my consultations at the moment, I constantly find myself explaining this new financing and clients asking: ‘Why aren’t thousands of kWp being built with it?’ So there is often a ‘too good to be true’ moment,” says the solar pioneer, who is considered a leading expert on the economic viability of photovoltaic systems. Daniel’s impression is then also that the reward is simply unknown and is therefore affectionately called the “Hidden Champion”.
