In Paris, burglars attacked a store of the luxury fashion brand Chanel, near the famous Champs-Elysées. According to an investigator, the perpetrators broke through the store window with an SUV.
According to the police, the burglary took place around 5:15 am on Monday on Avenue Montaigne, a street with expensive shops. The perpetrators put their loot in a second car, set fire to the first car and fled the scene.
The fire brigade got the fire under control, the investigator said. The extent of the damage is still unclear. French police are now looking for four suspects.
Luxury stores targeted by thieves
In mid-May, burglars had already robbed a store of fine jeweler Harry Winston on Avenue Montaigne, stealing jewelry worth six to ten million euros. The perpetrators have not yet been caught.
In the northern French city of Lille, thieves repeatedly broke into luxury stores last year using vehicles to steal handbags and other valuables.
