Up to 45 degrees – Short heat wave expected in Greece

In Greece and Turkey, heat waves are expected to bring local temperatures up to 45 degrees from Tuesday. Meteorologists are talking about unusually high temperatures for this time of year, which are expected to last at least until Thursday.

Central Greece, the Peloponnese peninsula, the Cyclades and Crete, but also western Turkey are affected. In Turkey, temperatures at this time of year are expected to be about twelve degrees higher than normal. According to the weather service, citizens should not be outside between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Children, the elderly and the chronically ill are particularly at risk.

The Greek Red Cross advises people not to stay in the sun and not to exercise outside. The shutters must be closed. The fire brigade was also concerned because the risk of a forest fire in central Greece was high. There was little rain in winter and temperatures have been unusually high since early June.

44 degrees in Cyprus
Just a few days ago, temperatures of up to 44 degrees Celsius were expected in Cyprus. According to Kachelmann weather, it should be a bit cooler there again, with a maximum of 32 degrees on Tuesday and a maximum of 35 degrees on Wednesday.
