The storms in Styria have many negative consequences for the country. From Tuesday to Friday, train traffic between Graz and Bruck an der Mur must now be suspended – slope stabilization work is necessary after a mudslide. There is a rail replacement service.
Heavy storms caused numerous disruptions in Styria last weekend, including a mudslide on the railway line between Frohnleiten and Peggau-Deutschfeistritz. And this will probably keep railway customers busy for a while: “As part of today’s assessment with the state geologist, extensive slope stabilization work has been ordered between the Frohnleiten and Peggau-Deutschfeistritz train stations. For safety reasons, the work cannot be carried out at night,” ÖBB wrote in a statement on Monday.
There is therefore a complete route closure for local traffic from 8:15 AM to 6:00 PM and for long-distance traffic from 8:15 AM to 4:15 PM.
For passenger transport, there will be a rail replacement service with buses. Freight traffic is being diverted. The ÖBB about the inconvenience for its customers: “We ask for your understanding and ask travelers to inform themselves about the restrictions before starting their trip.”
