Sweden no longer treats Covid-19 as a generally dangerous or socially harmful disease. In the Scandinavian country, the so-called pandemic law was abolished on Friday, so that in addition to this classification, requirements also apply for infection detection and quarantine.
Most of Sweden’s corona restrictions had already been lifted on February 9. The government and Swedish health authority Folkhälsomyndigheten justified this with the onset of a new pandemic phase in which the population was largely vaccinated and omicron infections led to a milder disease progression.
‘If you are sick, you should stay at home’
According to the health authority, the fact that Covid-19 is no longer considered socially critical does not mean that the pandemic is over. Proven illnesses have yet to be reported to authorities. Anyone who is sick should stay at home.
Sweden’s special way
During the Corona crisis, Sweden went its own way with relatively few restrictions on its citizens. But there were also certain measures in place in the Northern European country to curb the spread of the corona virus.
