“High Treason” – Russian woman donates 50 euros to Ukraine: 12 years in prison

Date:

Shocking verdict in Moscow: A 36-year-old Russian woman transferred 5,000 rubles (about 50 euros) to Ukraine for charity purposes. Now she was sentenced to twelve years in a penal colony – for ‘high treason’.

Programmer Nina Slobodtschikova actually only wanted to do good – out of pity for the brotherly people who were so tormented by the war of aggression, she transferred about 50 euros to charity. Much to the dismay of her homeland, she accused the brunette Russian of financing the Ukrainian armed forces. The “Polizek-Info” project, which supports political prisoners, reports on this.

She has been in custody since March 4, 2023 for allegedly trying to leave the country. In April, a Moscow court sentenced her to 12 years in prison for treason. However, the details of this case have only now become known: the court’s press service refused to provide information about the verdict.

Even minor violations can be punished with draconian penalties
Since Russia’s offensive began in February 2022, thousands of prison sentences or fines have been imposed on people who publicly criticize the offensive or support Ukraine. Prison conditions in Russia are considered extremely harsh. “Torture, beatings and deaths” were part of everyday life in the camp, as Nadezhda Tolokonnikova of the band “Pussy Riot” described her experiences.

She and her colleague Maria Alyochina were sentenced to two years in prison in 2012 after an anti-Putin rally in a church. As a uniform seamstress, she worked from 7:30 am to 12:30 am – with one day off per month. Lack of sleep, bad food, cold and dirty cells were meant to destroy the prisoners. “Hundreds of HIV patients worked 16 hours a day, destroying what was left of their immune systems. They were taken to hospital to die – so they wouldn’t spoil the statistics.”
