In Switzerland, two people were killed in explosions and a subsequent fire in an underground parking garage. Eleven others were slightly injured in the accident in the city of Nussbaumen in the north of the country.
The accident was apparently caused by exploding fireworks, a police spokesman said, according to the Keystone-SDA news agency. The explosions took place on Thursday evening in the underground parking garage of a high-rise complex.
From there, the fire spread to the first floor of an apartment building above the garage. About a hundred people had to temporarily leave their homes, the police announced on Friday.
Initial findings indicate it was an accident and not a crime, police in the canton of Argau said.
