Finnish police have arrested a man with links to the far right after he stabbed a 12-year-old boy of foreign descent at a shopping center in the city Oulu (Northwest Finland)reported this Friday Finnish National Research Agency (KRP).
The event took place on Thursday afternoon, when the aggressor, a Finnish national in his 30s, attacked a group of three minors with a knife in a busy shopping center without warning.
According to eyewitnesses, the attacker stabbed one of the minors several times in the back and also tried to stab another, who He managed to flee from the aggressor even though he tried to chase him through the shopping center.
The victim, of Finnish nationality but of foreign origin, suffered serious injury and he was rushed to a hospital, although his life is not in danger according to the medical report.
The attacker, who according to the KRP criminal record and belongs to an extreme right-wing groupwas overpowered by security guards near the mall as he tried to flee, until several police officers arrested him.
The quick intervention of the security guards, who treated the injured young man and chased away the aggressor, was crucial when it came down to it avoid a greater tragedythe police said.
The investigation into the event was transferred from the police to the KRP on Friday, as it concerns an alleged case racist extremist violence. The attacker faces two counts of attempted murder, aggravated by possible racist motives and the young age of the victims.
