28 visitors to an amusement park in Portland, Oregon experienced an anxious 30 minutes on Friday. When a ride called AtmosFEAR suddenly blocked due to a defect, they hung upside down at dizzying heights for half an hour.
Only then did firefighters and technicians from Oak Amusement Park manage to manually lower the ride, which was just stuck at the highest point. According to a statement, all passengers were released and medically examined.
In the AtmosFEAR attraction, which has been in operation since 2021, passengers sit on a platform that is thrown up and down and temporarily hangs upside down. It was precisely in this position that construction came to a standstill on Friday.
When the ride stalled, amusement park visitors shouted, “Oh my God, they’re upside down,” eyewitnesses told the Associated Press.
The amusement park was closed and people were evacuated. The cause of the outage is currently unclear. A statement from the park said that all visitors affected by the incident would receive a refund of their entrance fee…
