“Gives me hope” – Released hostage calls on Israelis to demonstrate

Date:

A week after the liberation, former Hamas hostage Andrei Kozlov called for a demonstration in Israel. “I am back home, but there are still many hostages in the Gaza Strip,” he said on Friday. In fact, thousands of people took to the streets again on Saturday against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

They called for new elections in Tel Aviv, greater efforts to release the hostages and an end to the military operation in the Gaza Strip. In the coastal metropolis, countless people regularly take to the streets on Saturdays, with protests often aimed at the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. From the point of view of the hostage family members, they are not doing enough to free the abductees and bring them home.

High price for salvation
Last week, Israeli forces rescued four hostages during a large-scale military operation (see video above). According to Hamas information, which could not be independently verified, 274 Palestinians were killed. Hundreds more are said to have been injured. Kozlov and the other hostages reported a months-long ordeal at the hands of their captors, who allegedly abused and tortured them physically and psychologically.

When Hamas and other extremist groups attacked Israel on October 7, more than 250 people were kidnapped in the isolated coastal area. About 120 hostages are believed to still be present, although many of them are no longer expected to be alive.

“I have seen the demonstrations on Saturday many times and they gave me a lot of hope. “I ask you to take to the streets again this Saturday and support the hostages and their families,” said former hostage Kozlov.

Demonstration overshadowed
Saturday’s demonstration was overshadowed by the news that eight Israeli forces were killed in the Gaza Strip. The armored vehicle they were traveling in exploded, the Israeli military said. According to official information, 306 soldiers have been killed since ground forces invaded. Eight is the highest number in one day so far.
