Deutschfeistritz’s photos went around the world. Nearly 100 people were rescued. The emergency workers look back on dramatic hours: emergency services and passers-by risked their lives more than once.
The sun shines over the fire station in Deutschfeistritz. Exactly one week has passed since the devastating storms. Commander Andreas Reiter has gathered his comrades. Firefighters from Eisbach-Rein, Gratkorn, Peggau, Frohnleiten, Bösebach, Berndorf and many more places answered the call. “I want to thank you for your support!” says Reiter. And Mayor Michael Viertler, himself hit hard by the flooding, added: “To your credit, no one was injured.”
