Serious accident Sunday evening in St. Martin am Wöllmissberg, Styria: a 19-year-old driver drove the car off the road and crashed into a tree. His cell phone could have saved his life!
His mobile phone could have saved the life of a young Styrian on Sunday. The 19-year-old was driving on a municipal road in Großwöllmiß around 3:15 a.m. when he suddenly – for an unknown reason – left the road and crashed into a tree.
The young man was alone in the car and probably would not have been found for a long time, but his mobile phone recognized that an accident had occurred and sent an accident alert to the state warning center.
Found seriously injured
Based on the coordinates, the emergency services (police, Red Cross and fire brigade) found the victim seriously injured shortly afterwards. He was put into an artificial deep sleep on the spot. Because the rescue helicopter could not land, the 19-year-old had to be taken by ambulance to the LKH University Hospital in Graz.
