A 24-year-old Viennese man is still awaiting charges of child abuse and kidnapping in Florida (USA) – while the family cannot afford bail, Marc D. is now threatened with prison.
Family D. spends anxious hours in Vienna-Favoriten. After her son Marc was arrested, every hour feels like a whole year for simple deli worker Verena (41). But the mother of three must now stay strong: for her son, who is imprisoned in Florida, and his younger half-siblings (12 and eight years old).
According to the ‘Krone’ report, a wave of sympathy washes over the humble delicatessen worker, but the financial problems remain.
Especially since Marc’s bail alone amounts to 160,000 euros and the amount is simply unbearable: “We scrape everything together, but we cannot get him released,” says Verena D. with tears in her eyes. The additional legal costs are also likely to reach astronomical heights.
