After Ukraine was promised fighter jets and further military aid, Russian forces are now doing “every effort” to “expand the fighting,” Ukrainian army chief Oleksandr Syrsky said on Monday.
The war enemy had recently made regular advances in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk and also further south. There they concentrate, among other things, on an important transport and supply line in an industrial area.
The Ukrainian armed forces are struggling to defend themselves, citing a lack of personnel and ammunition. The Russian government is “fully aware” that as a result of the deliveries and the arrival of the first F-16 fighter jets, “time will be in our favor,” Syrsky said.
Zelenskiy: Military aid is not enough
Yet Western aid is not enough and deliveries are coming too late, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the peace conference in Switzerland last weekend. In particular, the promised F-16 fighter jets (see video above) should be delivered quickly and more air defense systems should become available.
Ukraine’s peace conference in Switzerland ended without a unanimous declaration. However, 83 of the 94 participating countries and organizations, including Austria, describe Russia as an ‘aggressor’ and state, among other things, that the use of nuclear weapons should be avoided. No one from Russia participated in the conference.
