A man (34) seriously injured his wife and two of his children near Bonn on Wednesday evening by stabbing them, German police reported. The perpetrator then set fire to the apartment.
The fire then spread to the apartment building in which the apartment is located. The family’s third child suffered smoke inhalation.
The suspect fled the crime scene in Bad Münstereifel near Bonn, and police officers were able to arrest him on Wednesday morning at a rest area on Autobahn 61. The motive for the crime is still unclear.

All injured were taken to hospital. The spokesperson said that the injuries to the 33-year-old woman and the two children were “significant” and that a danger to life could not be ruled out. The three children are ten, thirteen and fifteen years old.
