A motorcyclist from Styria was killed in Ramingstein (Lungau) on Friday morning. The 58-year-old man ended up on the right shoulder in a long left bend and collided with a road pole. The motorcyclist fell and slid into an oncoming group of seven motorcycles.
The fourth driver in the group, a 63-year-old from the German district of Rottal-Inn, was unable to avoid a collision despite hard braking.
While the 58-year-old died at the scene of the accident, his 58-year-old passenger and the motorcyclist from Germany were injured and taken to hospitals in Tamsweg and Salzburg. The highway had to be completely closed for two hours to treat the victims and recover the vehicles.
Tunnel closure after accident in Schwarzach
A crash also took place on the B311 in the Schönberg tunnel on Friday afternoon, causing a motorcyclist to fall. The route was closed in both directions for an hour. A seriously injured person was transported to Schwarzach Hospital.
