At the beginning of this year, a 15-year-old caused a stir in the Vorarlberg children’s village in Bregenz. On Friday the boy had to answer for his sugar off at the regional court.
“My client was just having a bad day at the time,” the child’s lawyer said during the trial at the Feldkirch Regional Court. The “bad day” means January 22 this year. The scene of the incident is a kitchen in the Vorarlberg children’s village in Bregenz. There the boy picks up a kitchen knife, stands in front of the social worker and threatens: “I will stab all healthcare providers!”
The 30-year-old remains calm and tells him to wash the knife and put it back down. To which the suspect replies: “I’m not your brownie. I’m not going to wash the knife!” That is not a threat, but a statement, he adds.
During the trial, the young defendant justified his panic as follows: “I should have cooked that day, but I didn’t want to.” In general, many things did not suit him then – just a bad day. He admits he made the threat. However, this was more of an expression of displeasure: “I actually really like the supervisor.”
But there was certainly no knife involved, the suspect stated at the hearing. Which the witness denies. However, she limits herself: “I didn’t know what he wanted to do with the knife. He could have cut a loaf of bread.”
Entry on the criminal record
Although this puts the crime of dangerous threats into perspective for prosecutor Philipp Höfle and judge Christoph Stadler, the 15-year-old gets his first mention on the criminal record. The judge also explains why: “You have already had three diversions. One even because of the same paragraph. Now it’s just over.”
The municipality imposes a fine of 320 euros on the offender, half of which is conditional. The verdict is already legally binding.
