The beautiful weather once again attracted countless two-wheelers onto the roads in Upper Austria on Saturday. The journey ended fatally for a young boy. In Feldkirchen near Mattighofen, an 18-year-old crashed into an electricity pole and was fatally injured. He didn’t have a driver’s license.
The 18-year-old from the Braunau district was riding on a municipal road with a motorcycle that was not registered for traffic. For reasons that are still unclear, he ended up on the verge and collided with an electricity pole. Despite immediate first aid from two nurses and the emergency helicopter crew, the 18-year-old died at the scene of the accident.
Friends saw tragedy
Several acquaintances of the victim witnessed the accident because they had previously been to a nearby festival. They had to be cared for by the Red Cross and some of them had to be taken to Braunau Hospital. The 18-year-old did not have a class A driver’s license.
More serious accidents
Two other motorcyclists were injured, some seriously, in a collision in Kleinreifling on Saturday. They went for a ride on the motorcycle together in a group of six motorcyclists. When the first driver wanted to turn right into a parking lot with his motorcycle and therefore gave a signal and braked, the 19-year-old behind him was unable to brake her vehicle in time, according to the police. She collided with the car in front of her.
19 year old seriously injured
During the collision, both drivers fell and landed on their shoulders after a brief period of sliding. The 19-year-old was seriously injured and flown to hospital in Steyr by rescue helicopter. The 25-year-old suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention.
Slipped on wet road surface
A 42-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Roitham earlier today. The man’s rear tire skidded on the wet road in a long left turn. As a result, the man fell on the motorcycle, became stuck in the guardrail and got his arm stuck in a support, the police reported.
The seriously injured man was taken to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck. After the fall, the two-wheeler came to a stop about 20 meters away from the 42-year-old.
