In strong winds and high waves, 45 people sailed on board twelve boats on Lake Como. Difficulties were inevitable as the coast guard and fire brigade had to arrive.
The coast guard said on Sunday that the waves were over a meter high.
36 people were brought to safety by coast guard ships and another nine by the fire brigade. They found themselves in a difficult situation between Saturday evening and Sunday morning due to wind gusts of up to 30 knots.
No injuries
In several cases the boats were stranded on reefs and between trees the boats broke down or were unable to maneuver and were at risk of crashing into rock walls. There were no injuries.
