On Sunday morning at half past four in Leoben, a man fell over a railing and landed on the bank of the Mur. The fire brigade was able to free the victim with the help of a crane and a basket winch.

Rescuers rushed to shore
It quickly became clear that the rescue would be a challenge. Firefighters had to set up lights and two rescuers had to abseil to the banks of the Mur. An emergency doctor was called at the same time.

Using a crane winch to which they attached a basket stretcher, the victim was rescued and transported upstairs, where he was then treated by rescuers. After two hours, the Leoben-Stadt and Leoben-Göss fire brigades were able to complete their operation.
