A terrible accident took place on the Kanzele in Kennelbach (Vorarlberg) on Sunday morning. A woman from Germany fell on the local via ferrata and suffered serious injuries.
The woman was climbing the path on the Kanzele together with some companions when she suddenly fell while hanging on the rope and collided with the rock wall. She suffered serious injuries.
The woman was then removed from the rock face by the crew of the C8 rescue helicopter using a rope rescue and flown to the football field in Kennelbach for initial treatment. Because she no longer showed signs of life, a first aid worker immediately started resuscitation measures – fortunately these were successful.
The German was then flown to Feldkirch State Hospital for further treatment. The crisis intervention team was also present and provided escorts for those involved in the accident.
