If this driver really was only slightly injured, he can hold a candle to his guardian angels: the driver’s cab of a truck literally wrapped itself around the pillar of an overhead signpost in a serious accident on the West Autobahn in Allhaming on Tuesday afternoon.
The serious accident took place shortly before noon on Tuesday on the A1 West Autobahn in the direction of Linz, before the Allhaming exit. For reasons that are still unclear, a timber transport truck had left the road, collided with the shock absorber of the guardrail and slid along it. The driver’s cab then literally wrapped itself around the support column of the overhead signpost. The fire brigade was alerted to save people and received information along the way that it was probably a serious truck accident.
Lenker was able to free himself
The crashed semi-trailer truck was found on site and the driver was able to miraculously free himself from the completely destroyed driver’s cabin. He was taken to hospital after receiving first aid. The fire brigade secured the accident location and supported the extensive cleaning work.
Up to seven kilometers of traffic jam
The A1 West Autobahn was temporarily closed at the scene of the accident in the area towards Vienna and was otherwise only passable in one lane. The traffic jam sometimes stretched for about seven kilometers.
