The state of Klagenfurt will be the venue for the first-ever international fencing tournament for wheelchair users.
Thrills in Carinthia: On Saturday and Sunday, the first international fencing tournament for wheelchair users in Austrian history will take place in the Waidmannsdorf sports hall in Klagenfurt! “30 athletes from eleven countries will participate in the 2022 Open Austria Satelite Cup,” explains Peter Brigola, President of Sport Freizeitklub Lindwurm Klagenfurt (SFLK).
Lukas Moßbauer from Klagenfurt has qualified for Austria. Thanks to the Christmas miracle fundraiser “Krone” he is looking forward to new equipment, including a modern sword and a professional fencing chair suitable for competitions. Paula Engel from the Völkermarkt is also participating, who is the first Austrian to prove that she will prove herself in Paralympic fencing.
Semifinals in the City-Arkaden
“During the competition, there is also a repair station for wheelchairs from the Maierhofer company in the sports hall in Waidmannsdorf. This can also be used by spectators,” says Brigola. By the way, the semi-final will take place on Saturday from 4 p.m. in the Klagenfurt City Arkaden.
