Huge drug find on the Reschenpass: An Italian police sniffer dog discovered no less than 100 kilograms (!) of hashish in the car of an Italian on the pass between Tyrol and South Tyrol. The seized drugs have a value of several million euros.
According to the Italian tax police, the 55-year-old Sicilian who lived in Germany had hidden the drugs in sports bags that also contained sausages. The man was arrested. The drug had a street value of three million euros.
Steering wheel wanted to turn around
The man was planning to cross the Reschen Pass. As reported by the Italian news agency ANSA, the tax police “Guardia di finanza” stopped the man’s car. Apparently, he tried to avoid the check by making a U-turn.
He therefore attracted the attention of the officers. When he was stopped, the driver justified himself by saying that he had taken a wrong turn because of the satellite navigation system of his mobile phone.
Medicines stored between sausages
When the vehicle was checked, the sniffer dog “Escot” showed great interest in the luggage. The driver justified this interest with a load of sausages in his pockets. However, the four sports bags also contained 104 kilos of hashish in packages, the Tax Authorities reported.
Suspect taken to jail
The drugs and the car were seized and the man was sent to prison in Bolzano. An investigation was launched to determine the origin of the drug.
