A serious drone attack on the Russian border region of Kurs is currently keeping the Kremlin on edge. At least five people were killed, including two children.
“Five people died as a result of the dropping (of ammunition), including two children. Two more family members were taken to the regional hospital – their condition is serious,” wrote the governor of the region, Alexei Smirnov. According to him, a drone attacked a residential building.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reports that six drones have been shot down on the illegally annexed Black Sea Peninsula of Crimea, as well as in Tver Oblast, Bryansk and Belgorod.
Here is the original post from Smirnov:
Moscow assumes Ukrainian attack
Since the beginning of the Russian offensive in Ukraine, both sides have regularly attacked each other with drones, sometimes with a range of several hundred kilometers. The Ukrainian army has expanded its drone attacks on Russian territories this year, targeting both Russian energy facilities and towns and villages near the border.
Russia launched a major land offensive in May in Ukraine’s northeastern region of Kharkiv. According to President Vladimir Putin, the aim is to create a “buffer zone” to protect Russia’s border region of Belgorod from Ukrainian attacks. The Kursk region lies further north, opposite Ukraine’s Kyiv-controlled Sumy region.
