An online introduction ended in financial disaster for a 69-year-old Tyrolean woman: a fraudster cleverly competed for the woman’s affection on a dating platform and seduced her to earn more than 100,000 euros with lies.
Between 2021 and 2024, a previously unknown perpetrator managed to lure a woman from Innsbruck into several transfers with false promises of love. “The woman transferred a total amount in the lower six-figure euros,” police said.
Threatened to publish photos
When the Tyrolean woman was again asked to transfer several thousand euros because otherwise the photos she sent would be published, she reported the matter to the police.
