A six-year-old boy had to be resuscitated on Saturday after a swimming accident in Vienna’s Angelibad in the Floridsdorf district. The Vienna rescue helicopter then took the boy to a hospital, said Corina Had, spokeswoman for the professional rescue service.
The child was found in the water by other swimmers and rescued. Both the helpers and a lifeguard immediately provided first aid until emergency services arrived, the report said.
The emergency services received the alarm at around 17:40. Five teams, including a helicopter, went out to rescue people. The professional fire brigade and police were also present to ensure, among other things, that the rescue helicopter landed safely in front of the municipal summer swimming pool on the right bank of the Old Danube.
