Mudslides, floods and destroyed livelihoods – these are the catastrophic consequences of the numerous storms of the past weeks. We have already reported on them. What the Krone community thinks about the events, you can read here.
In the comments below our coverage of the storms, there was a heated discussion about possible causes of the natural disasters that are now so common. DeSagerAlexAUT believes that the very serious human interventions in streams are the cause of the conditions. On the other hand, Life69 sees that the reasons are more related to agriculture, forestry, water and energy management.
“You can’t expect anything from this government”
There is also criticism of the federal government. Cable1 for example, criticizes the lack of support. Eswirdzeit290924 is of the same opinion and also complains that, according to him, foreign aid projects receive preferential treatment from our politicians, while the Austrians are left to fend for themselves in their helpless situation.
“It’s always been like this!”
Many other users, like Bertlare of a very different opinion and are convinced that such weather conditions have always existed – long before the word ‘climate crisis’ was even known to society.
What do you think about the storms and their causes? Is it a result of failed politics or just an unchangeable natural whim? We look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments!
