An apparently mentally ill Viennese woman initiated a major operation on the Danube Canal shortly before Austria’s European Championship match on Wednesday. A helicopter was even deployed.

The Danube Canal was bathed in a sea of ​​blue light as rescuers apparently searched for a person in the water. As the rescue team of “Krone” confirmed, a “person under water” was reported at 19:45 at the Friedensbrücke. The fire brigade also received an alarm: seven vehicles, boats and the ÖAMTC helicopter were quickly brought to the water.

It turned out that the alarm was unnecessary. A mentally handicapped Viennese woman had already left the water on her own.
