At least 10 people have been killed and 42 others injured in a bus crash in southeastern Brazil, when the coach “crashed into the pillar of a viaduct,” São Paulo state’s security authority said Friday.
According to the information, the ten victims died at the scene of the accident. The injured, including five seriously injured, were taken to nearby hospitals.
The accident happened early in the morning near the city of Itapetininga, 170 kilometers west of the economic metropolis of São Paulo.
According to the local transport authority, the bus suffered “a mechanical failure for reasons that are still unclear” and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
