Self-filmed videos leave you speechless, as does the fact that the hands of the police are tied. “The only way out is to re-establish a protection zone,” they say.
We meet Ariela and Bernhard in the early morning in the Volksgarten in Graz. This is the best time, because there are not that many dealers walking around there now, the two residents know that from experience. While we were chatting on a bench, we were critically looked at by a few people who were hiding behind high bushes. The fact that the Graz ÖVP and the “Krone” are putting pressure on the protection zone gives the young couple hope: “Now the Volksgarten madness is finally coming back to the public!” They have lived very close to the notorious crime hotspot! for several years, which is already frowned upon outside the borders of the capital.
