A horrific act shocked France when a father in Paris threw his two two- and five-year-old children out of the window of his fifth-floor apartment, leaving them with life-threatening injuries.
There had already been a family quarrel on Saturday evening, the newspaper ‘Le Parisien’ reports, citing the police. The father jumped after him and died. The authorities have set up psychological support for residents who witnessed the crime in the apartment building outside the city centre.
Children in intensive care
According to witnesses, the man also tried to push the mother of his children out of the window before committing suicide.
The rescue workers were said to have arrived quickly and the children, who were lying motionless, were taken under motor escort to the Necker Hospital and admitted to intensive care. The youngest child was said to have suffered a broken pelvis and the oldest a broken wrist.
Mother in shock
The mother, who was on the ground floor when the emergency services arrived, suffered severe shock and is being treated. Residents who witnessed the scene were also treated for shock by the fire brigade.
