Electric Love Festival – “We believe that music brings people together”

Date:

The eleventh edition of the Electric Love Festival ended with a bombastic show full of fireworks and famous stars. Tens of thousands of fans of electronic music and artists celebrated exuberantly and there was once again a great atmosphere at the Salzburgring.

“Of course, safety always comes first, but I am very happy that my friends and I can finally celebrate,” says Fabian from Salzburg. The 26-year-old had been closely following the various weather forecasts since Saturday morning. He absolutely did not want to let the last day of the Electric Love Festival (ELF) fail.

Tens of thousands of other visitors to Austria’s largest electronic music festival did the same. Hours before the festival grounds officially opened, they patiently queued at the main train station, waiting for taxis and the official shuttles to the Salzburgring. “I don’t care about the bad weather. I’ve been to ELF six times in total and only twice did we have good weather. ‘Somehow it’s almost part of it,’ said Flo from Germany calmly.

The Italian electronic dance music trio Meduza was also impressed by the special weather conditions: “This is the first time we are performing in Salzburg. The expected rain almost ruined our plans, but here we are. And let’s be honest: this is exactly the weather that makes summer,” summarizes Mattia Vitale of Trio Meduza. Together with the band One Republic and Leony, the Italians created the song ‘Fire’, which became the official anthem of the 2024 European Football Championship.

“I really enjoy performing here”
On the music streaming platform ‘Spotify’ they have billions of views and are among the most successful Italian musicians of all time. Their recipe for success seems very simple: “We still believe that music can bring people together. That’s what drives us and the reason why we make music in the first place. It’s also the best feedback for us.”

Performing at ELF was actually a long-cherished dream for the band. “I have been following people from the scene who work in Salzburg on Instagram for a long time. And of course the proximity to Italy also has a certain appeal,” says Mattia Vitale.

Before their performance on Saturday, the trio, who often perform individually as in this case, stuck to their ritual at ELF. “We always observe the audience for about ten minutes before our performances. That gives us a good idea of what the people in the crowd are like and where we need to pick them up,” says Vitale. At the Salzburgring, it quickly became clear: the Italians had little trouble getting the atmosphere going.

Cheering knew no bounds
British singer John Newman also clearly enjoyed his very first performance at Electric Love. “I’ve been following the festival for a long time. It’s a great pleasure for me to perform here with all the big names, in this beautiful region and for these great fans. Austria is generally one of my favorite places,” the 34-year-old says with a smile.

The good mood among those present – whether employees, visitors or artists – knew no bounds on the final day. They celebrated, hugged each other and made the earth tremble.

The eleventh edition of the mega event in the Fuschlsee region ended with an impressive show including fireworks. But the joy was far from over. The huge party lasted until three in the morning before the bass finally died down and the partygoers went home.
