During roadworks in Tyrol’s Zillertal, two truck accidents occurred almost simultaneously on Monday afternoon. In one case, a heavy vehicle fell off the road over an embankment. A total of three people were injured.
Police and rescue workers had a lot to do Monday afternoon in the area around the Zillertal Arena ski area. Currently, road construction work is being carried out near Hainzenberg. This is where the accidents happened.
The alarm was first raised because a truck had overturned for unknown reasons. A mountain railway employee rescued the injured driver and brought him to the valley. The professional driver was taken to Schwaz Hospital by rescue operations.
Holidaymakers as first responders
Almost simultaneously, another serious accident occurred on the construction site. For unknown reasons, a truck left the Alpine path and fell over the dike. A vacationer saw the accident and went to the driver’s aid. The first aid worker was injured when he tried to free the truck driver from the cabin.
The Zell mountain rescue service and an emergency helicopter team came to the aid of the two men. The injured were also flown to the crane house in Schwaz.
