A violent storm claimed the life of a two-month-old baby in a park in Belgium on Tuesday afternoon.
The baby was carried outside by his mother in a stroller, the mayor of the municipality of Uccle in the Brussels-Capital Region, Boris Dilliès, said on Wednesday about the tragic death in Wolvendael Park. Particularly tragic: the accident happened around 4 p.m., just an hour before the park was closed due to a severe weather warning.
On Tuesday, a heavy storm with heavy rain and wind gusts of over 100 kilometers per hour swept through the center of Belgium. In addition to broken trees and broken branches, there was local flooding (see video below).
However, according to weather warnings, nothing would happen before 5 p.m. “You can imagine that the tragedy would not have happened if the park had closed an hour earlier,” said Mayor Boris Dilliès remorsefully.
