Serious industrial accident in the Innviertel in Upper Austria. During repair work, a worker fell into a cooling fan and seriously injured two fingers.
The accident at work happened on Monday morning at the sewage treatment plant in Innkreis. At around 8:20 a.m., a 27-year-old from Villach was carrying out renovation work.
Faulty hydraulic unit
Before pumping work on the canals there could begin, the worker and his two colleagues attempted to repair a faulty hydraulic unit because oil was leaking from the hydraulic pump. The man felt the edges of the oil tank to find the leak while the device was operating.
Index and middle fingers injured
He got too close to the air-cooling propeller with the index and middle fingers of his left hand. Although he was wearing work gloves, he sustained unnamed injuries to both of his fingers. He was flown by rescue helicopter to the Ried im Innkreis hospital.
