Two fatal traffic accidents within a few hours shocked Styria. A motorcyclist (22) had an accident in Graz on Thursday afternoon. A car driver (26) could not be saved after an accident near Fürstenfeld on Friday morning.
At around 1 p.m., the 22-year-old motorcyclist was riding west on Peter-Rosegger-Straße in the Wetzelsdorf district of Graz. According to witness statements, the motorcyclist was driving at the speed limit and suddenly lost control of his motorcycle. He then crossed into oncoming traffic, rode over a curb onto the sidewalk and crashed into a street lamp.
There were two other motorcyclists present at the same time who immediately provided first aid. As a result, the emergency doctor could only determine that the 22-year-old was dead. No other people were injured.
The next accident a few hours later
A 26-year-old man from Styria had an accident with his car in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district on Friday morning and died at the scene. The man fell with the car over a steep embankment. Although seriously injured, he was able to free himself from the wreckage, but then succumbed to his injuries. The Styrian State Police Directorate said that multiple resuscitation attempts by the emergency doctor alerted by witnesses had no effect.
The driver from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district was driving on the B319 from Ilz towards Großwilfersdorf at around 01:30. For unknown reasons, he veered off the right side of the road near Hainfeld, broke through the crash barrier and fell a few metres over the steep embankment.
