On Friday, the trial of an actor who allegedly made contact with choir boys will take place at the regional court in Vienna. The Carinthian is said to have pressured a 13-year-old to perform sexual acts with him via a video call. He risks a prison sentence of up to five years.
On Friday, the accused actor faces a different kind of flashlight storm. Instead of standing on stage, he sits on the quayside of the Vienna Regional Court, covering his face with sunglasses, an FFP2 mask and a gray folder. Because the accusations are serious: via Instagram, he asked a 13-year-old child star to masturbate with him.
13-year-old encouraged to masturbate
“Do you want to go by video?”; “I would like to go with you”; “Why not? Are you a coward?” – the prosecutor presents excerpts from the conversations between the Carinthian and the victim, who vehemently disapproved of any sexual act. But the suspect does not give up. He met the boy at a production in a large theater in Vienna. “I thought he did a great job for such a young actor.”
As a result, he was introduced to the 13-year-old’s Instagram profile. “I can’t say anything other than it was a crazy, crazy thing. It’s all there in black and white. I can’t sugarcoat anything,” he told the jury, pleading guilty to attempted sexual abuse of minors.
Attempts to create images of child abuse are also part of the charge. The Carinthia resident pleads not guilty on this count. It was never his intention to take screenshots.
“I’m not in this industry anymore”
After the accusations were made, the young man immediately sought treatment: “I am in the men’s counseling center in Vienna. I can work through a lot so that something embarrassing like this doesn’t happen again.” The judge also asks: “Are you currently working?” The defendant states that he works in retail. “I still have actors here,” Mr. Rat said, looking at the generals – “I am no longer in this business.”
The trial against the ex-actor lasts less than an hour: the 13-year-old cannot be questioned due to the partial admission of responsibility. His private representative from the law firm Philipp Wolm joins with a symbolic compensation of 3,000 euros. The Senate deliberates.
