There is great consternation in Graz after a 29-year-old man literally executed a young woman (23) with a long gun on Friday afternoon.
The first details about the fatalities are now known.
Horrible scenes unfolded Friday afternoon in a law firm in the city center of Graz. An Austrian with Croatian roots (29) stormed into the office and fired a gun at a young secretary, presumably his (ex-)girlfriend.
The 23-year-old woman from Styria was fatally shot. The shooter then committed suicide. It is the thirteenth murder of women this year.
As the “Krone” learned, the perpetrator was 29-year-old Adis M. He worked as a technician at a metal powder production company in Graz. According to the police, the shooter was innocent and not known to the police.
The exact course of the crime and the motive are currently still under investigation – it is suspected that the crime was related to it. The victim is 23-year-old Laura P. She worked as an employee at the law firm and was alone in the office at the time of the crime.
Women’s Ring: “We urgently need an action plan!”
The Austrian Women’s Ring was also shocked and spoke of a “Black Friday”. “Today we were deeply shocked to see the life of a young woman, who still had her life ahead of her, ended by a man. We urgently need a comprehensive, legally binding national action plan against violence against women and the full implementation of the Istanbul Convention so that this murder can finally come to an end. Violence against women must not be a trivial offence”, says Klaudia Frieben, chairwoman of the Women’s Ring.
The Styrian State Police have launched an investigation.
