After a mudslide in East Tyrol on Friday, two places are currently closed off from the outside world. The clean-up work has begun. According to the state, the road should reopen at 11 p.m. on Friday. The B180 Reschenstrasse in the Landeck district was accessible again with at least one lane on Friday afternoon after a mudslide. However, the connection will have to be closed again at night for safety reasons.
After the mudflow left the L273 Villgratentalstrasse at the entrance to the valley to Villgratental, the road is currently closed to all traffic in both directions. “The Villgratental with the communities Binnen- and Ausservillgraten is currently not accessible,” the state of Tyrol reported in a broadcast on Friday afternoon.
Probably closed until Friday 11pm
The clean-up efforts are in full swing. In the evening, the country announced in another broadcast that the lockdown will probably be lifted at 11 p.m.
Zillertal: Car stuck in Mure
Storms with heavy rain had already led to mudslides in Tyrol on Thursday evening and Friday evening. In the Zillertal Fügenberg a mudslide ended up on the municipal road Hochfügen. Two Germans were trapped in their car between two streams, but fortunately remained unharmed.
Reschenstrasse is closed again at night
The Reschenstrasse in the Landeck district also had to be closed after a mudslide. On Friday afternoon, the B180 was reopened to traffic as a single lane – “but for safety reasons, it is not possible to open the road at night due to the limited visibility. The B180 Reschenstrasse will therefore be closed to traffic again from 9 p.m. on Friday. A new assessment will be carried out tomorrow, Saturday morning – then a decision will be made on reopening the road,” the state said.
