At least 100 people have died in disasters linked to the season’s rains since the start of the monsoon season.
At least 60 people were missing on Friday after an avalanche triggered by heavy rains in Nepal swept away two passenger buses on a road southwest of Kathmandu, official sources said. In addition, incessant rains caused the deaths of 11 people in Kaski district due to a landslide.
A bus carrying 41 passengers and another carrying 24 passengers were swept into a river by a major landslide.
Police and military personnel were involved in the rescue operations throughout the day, and search efforts resumed last Saturday, albeit with no hope of finding survivors.
