Environmental activists doused a so-called Cybertruck with orange paint at the Tesla Center in Hamburg’s Wandsbek district on Saturday morning (see video above). German police confirmed this upon request.
A 21-year-old and a 55-year-old activist also held up a banner, police said. The National Criminal Investigation Department is investigating.
According to climate activists from the group ‘Last Generation’, the vehicle symbolises ‘the way the super-rich are dealing with global warming’.
SUV currently touring Germany
The American electric car manufacturer Tesla is currently presenting its futuristic Cybertruck in Germany. The vehicle, which weighs 3.1 tons and is 5.68 meters long, is not yet registered in Europe.
“Armored to climate hell”
Since May 2, the SUV has been touring Germany as an exhibition and symbolizes how the super-rich deal with global warming: armored in a luxury vehicle, on the way to climate hell, criticizing the last generation.
“The Cybertruck weighs about three tons, so its enormous weight means it uses an absurd amount of energy. A senseless waste that we as a society cannot afford,” the activists said.
