Former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was emergency evacuated Saturday with a bloody wound to his right ear after what the FBI described as an assassination attempt on him as he was just beginning his rally in the city of Butler, Pennsylvania, two days before the Republican National Convention.

The event lasted barely a minute, during which another explosion was heard, and then Trump stood up with his bloodied ear and raised fist and was escorted to an official vehicle to be taken to safety and undergo medical tests.
Authorities subsequently confirmed that the altercation had left two people dead (including the shooter), and Trump campaign sources said the former president was “fine” and “safe.”
The President of the United States, Joe Bidencalled his Republican presidential rival after he condemned the attack in a televised statement shortly after the attack.
The Secretary-General of the UN, Antonio Guterressaid on Saturday he “unequivocally” condemned the attack, “an act of political violence,” and wished Trump “a speedy recovery.”
From Brussels, the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrellis “shocked” by the attack and has strongly condemned the act: “Shocked by the news of the attack on President Trump, which I strongly condemn. Once again we are witnessing unacceptable acts of violence against political representatives.”
